  • Changing major to Actuarial Science

    Hi, everyone~

    here in Canada I have been majoring in Engineering for two years.

    After hearing what actuarial Science is like, rightnow I am taking some basic economic, calculus courses to switch to Actuarial Science major next semester.

    Hopely, this is the path I choose, however there is one thing I am still afraid of,
    when I am hired by companies later I pass some Actuarial exams, does my GPA affect the chance of getting employed?

    Due to my immaturity in first 2 univeristy years, my GPA is not great to boast, some of the courses I just passed;
    (also I want to whine that my school is one of tough schools in Canada)

    Since I am doing only prereq for actuarial science courses, I haven't figured out WHAT acturial science is totally like; I
    wonder my Engineering background(chemistry! physics! Algebra! Calculus oh yes =_=) helps me studying actuarial science

    In short, yes. It's not a dealbreaker, but everything counts.
