  • How do you decide on a specialization?

How do you decide on an actuarial specialization over the course of your career? Is it just something that 'clicks' as you get juggled around through different departments in the entry level phase? Should you know exactly what aspect of the industry you're going to concentrate on by the time you seek ASA membership? Can FSA's be more broadly defined than one specific specialization?

I guess your best bet would be to work with an industry/company that you feel a knack for. You do an in depth research on their services and try to get a job there. That way as you take the exams, you will be specializing in the pref. field of choice.
