  • Math/Stat courses ...

    Hello everyone

I would like to know whether the following courses help supplement working in the actuarial area or not(for example, stochastic process , brownian motion ,measure theory... or anything using in prediction about pricing stocks, options ,...) and What does it learn about ?

    1. Advanced calculus << I can't distinguish between the one and analysis course
    2. Real Analysis (such as Lebesgue Integral)
    3. Measure theory
    4. Bayesian Statistics/Inference
    5. Differential equation

and it does, Could you help arrange the order for taking them for me
Any comment would be appreciated :smiloe:

hey , I also have another question...

Class "abstract Algebra" is necessary for "Measure Theory" or not , or just Real Analysis enough ??

    Thanks in advance

They are two different tracks so not necessary. Don't you have a math advisor in your school?

I'm not sure because I often asked my teacher in some math class

Moreover, my department is not in math faculty. then I hardly see math teachers except for in math-classes

and I'm in a weekend period , so I do not go to school now

by the way, Do you know "functional Analysis / Topology" courses ?

what do they learn about ?? necessary for Stochastic ,Ito calculus or not

        Thanks for responding

Each math department should have a head that you can schedule an appointment with to discuss different math tracks. You can look up course descriptions as well as areas of study on mathworld, wiki or even google. They should tell you what functional analysis or topology are.
