    C is easier, as the name of the exam says:
    M = Mother of all exams,
    C = challenging.

        Funny you should ask: I am just working on a major revision of my manual for life contingencies portion of exam M manual. I will send it to the place where it is sold: New England Actuarial Seminars -- www.neas-seminars.com, within a week or so. You can get the other half of the material on exam M from NEAS as well, either written by Mahler (bigger and more expensive) or by Kubicka (smaller and cheaper). You can find a variety of other manuals at actuarialbookstore.com or actexmadriver.com.

        Good luck.
