    I think it's fine

    With the old exam, it was named by Course 1. In fact, Course 1 and exam P are pretty much similar. The only difference is that exam P has removed the Calculus. However you need to have some class of calculus to understand the concept hidden under the exam P problem. If your textbook was designed for P, it would be fine. Don't worry. if it was for course 1, just check with the syllabus of exam P on beanactuary .

    Has the syllabus changed much over time?

    I have a few books on studying for the exam on probability. One of them is from several years ago and the other is much more recent. Is the test dramatically different than before. The books would seem to indicate at least some change. They talk about different kinds of problems.
