I had attempted exam P/1 twice and failed both times with scores of 03 and 05. I thought about giving up and wondering "is this career really for me?" but I was determined to pass this exam.
I decided to try Coaching Actuaries along with the ASM manual. Since I knew a lot of the distributions already from studying for the test in the past, all I really did was practice exam after practice exam gradually raising my passing score. I went into exam P/1 (in May) with a passing score of 8.15 on Coaching Actuaries (I think they recommend a 6?). I just found out my grade today and it turns out that I earned a 10 out of 10 on the exam!
If you are willing to put in the time and effort, I highly recommend going this route for your exam P/1 (especially if you are struggling with the concepts and distributions).
I just wanted to share my experience and hopefully this helps at least one person out there.
Thanks again Coaching Actuaries!
