Can anyone give me any advice on how to approach preparation for p1 exam? I have already been unsuccessful multiple times and really can't afford another mishap. I really need to pass this exam and get this monkey off my back.

I probably spent about 2 to 3 hours for 3 to 4 days per week for about the last two months or so consistently preparing for the exam. I was practicing and looking over dozens of problems during that time. Do you think I gave myself enough time for preparation? If not, what is an adequate amount of time?

not sure, since it varies from person to person. But it sounds like you spent less than 100 hours, which is about 1/3 of the recommended amount of study time. Did you use a textbook/manual, or did you just go right to the SOA sample? Also, did you do any timed practice exams? Timing yourself prior to the exam is very helpful.
