  • Recent finance grad, considering actuary

Recently graduated college about a year and a half ago with a degree in finance. Really considering becoming an actuary but looking for some guidance. Looking at different sites such as beanactuary, they show that many people have finances degrees or degrees in subjects other than math/stats/actuarial science. For those who work in the actuarial field and have passed exams.. Do you recommend going back to school to study and get a second degree in math/actuarial science or just spending extra time studying for the exams? If you recommend just spending extra time studying what study materials would you recommend as there seem to be numerous companies offering materials. Any guidance would be GREATLY appreciated!

The best thing you can do: pass exams. Don't worry about another degree, don't worry about more classes - just go pass exams.

Study materials - there's lots of options out there, and what suits me may not suit you. Do research, ask questions.
